Description:
The main problem of this study is "Is there any significant improvement and
difference in students' reading comprehension between students who were taught using
the follow-up reading method and those who were not taught to the tenth graders of
SMK Tamansiswa 1 Palembang?". The purpose of this study was to find out significant
increase and difference to students who were taught using the follow-up reading with
class discussion method and students who were taught to tenth grade students of SMK
Tamansiswa 1 Palembang. This study used a quasi-experimental method. The
population for this study was taken from class X students of SMK Tamansiswa 1
Palembang for the academic year 2023/2024. There were two classes from class X with
a total of 68 students. The sample for this study was 34 students. Data were collected
through a written test and analyzed using two groups (experimental and control). Data
analysis on the results of the t-test obtained was higher than the t-table, meaning that
the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The above
conclusions prove that there is a significant increase in students' reading
comprehension achievement. This can be seen from the average score obtained by
students. So, the conclusion is that there is a significant increase in students' reading
comprehension using the follow-up reading with class discussion method in class X
students of SMK Tamansiswa 1 Palembang.
